"It Was Love, It Was Love, It Was Love ..."
So suddenly it’s 1:00-ish on a Tuesday afternoon, my show starts in two hours and I’m wondering where in hell the long weekend went.
Ah, but what a weekend! Lots of turkey, lots of sleep, lots of partying, shopping, dining out, kids and dogs, and Patti thinks it’s the ’80’s – oh MY!
And Kylie Minogue to kick things off Friday night. Holy fucking shit. Think of the biggest gay bar you’ve ever been in – during Pride – and x 1000. Exquisite seats, amazing, amazing energy (thanks fellow ‘mos!) and add in a generous helping of our little girl from Neighbours, all grown up and with a need to please.
She did, she did: Engaging, colourful, coy, hi-energy, camp, respectful (the Toronto skyline made an appearance in one song), tight, with state-of-the-art graphics and lighting, Minogue’s show was like a bath in cotton candy featuring all the songs of hers you do know, and some you didn’t.
Or, as my friend Amanda put it: ‘Shit, why didn’t we think to do any e?’
P.S. The only part I don’t understand – and wonder this at any similar type of concert, ie: Madonna – is WHO are these people who SIT THE ENTIRE TIME? And WHY are you here?
