A Very Cyber World AIDS Day.

What a sign of the times.  Decades into a world where a virus called HIV and a disease called AIDS still exists, the issue and those involved have taken to the Internet – something surely inconceivable to those who were first infected or affected thirty years ago.

Today, World AIDS Day, two notable initiatives launch online.  The first is the relaunch of InterACTion, the popular project between the AIDS Committee of Toronto and GayGuideToronto.comFamous for stirring conversation about the topics that our community can be hesitant to discuss via other mediums (or the old skool face-to-face), such as barebacking, crystal meth, and bathhouse sex, InterACTion has a fresh new concept.  Now, five different voices offering five different points of view will take turns offering a new idea each month worth chatting about.  They’ll share their perspective, you share yours.

This month, blogger Harry asks: While AIDS isn’t over, are YOU over AIDS? InterACT!

Meanwhile, congratulations to Brandon Williams and Brian Finch (also GayGuideToronto.com bloggers) who have shed blood, sweat and tears over the past several months, birthin’ a gorgeous healthy baby they’ve christened PositiveLite.com.  A new webzine written by and for HIV-positive people, it takes HIV activism to a new level, provides a new worthy platform for voices that don’t get often heard, and I’m proud of Brian and Brandon – very!  Check it out, and spread the word!

P.S.  I guess it’s not all cyber :) Tonight I host OutTV’s special World AIDS Day programming.  Tune in!
