Feel GOOD Friday!
Jun 18th, 2010 by Shaun Proulx

The late spring sun has returned to Toronto – that’s just one thing I’m loving as we get set to greet the weekend. Here’s what else!

Namaste!  I think we could all use a little deep breathing and stretching as Toronto Pride 2010 gets set.  I spoke to Salimah Kassim-Lakha, organizer of Yogapalooza to find out how thousands will be doing just that at 12:30 pm in Queen’s Park on Pride Day:

Holy Young & The Restless Jill Foster Abbott – or whoever you are.  Talk about cliffHANGER: Genoa City’s oldest whore (compliment) grew up thinking working- class Liz Foster was her mother, then when Liz thought she was dying she told Jill that her arch-enemy Katherine was her mother. When that turned out to be untrue, it left Jill feeling a little Who Am I? ever since.  Now Liz really has died, telling friggen slurry DAVID HASSELHOFF, back to where his career started playing Jill’s brother Snapper, who Jill’s mother really is.  Only we the audience don’t get the information, we just watch as a devastated Jill shows up on someone’s doorstep, in tears.  Jill knocks and who answers but … Lauren?  I KNEW THAT WOMAN WAS OLDER THAN SHE LOOKS!  No, but seriously, WTF?  Love mah show!

And have you seen a display case that looks like this at your local grocer?

Collect Them All!

These, friend, are Ritter chocolates.  Ritter SPORT chocolates, though what is sporty about chocolate I fail to understand.  Although given it’s my firm rule that I must eat chocolate once a day, could it be I have been playing sports THIS ENTIRE TIME?  I digress.  A wonderful shag whose name I never knew introduced me to this 100 g German chocolate treasure years ago and they are addictive. You’ve never seen such an array; 27 flavour options: milk chocolate, champagne, milk + white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate with butter biscuit, chocolate with peppermint filling, yogurt filled, chocolate + cornflakes, chocolate + marzipan, rum-soaked raisins … it’s RIDICULOUS – and $2.59 so well spent.

Law Of Attraction: So I’m dealing with this total bitch on the phone this week and she’s giving attitude and my first thought is, ‘Oh, you want ATTITUDE?’ but then I remembered I wanted HER help, so …  So now I’m on hold and my mind is racing about 1001 reasons why she’s a total bitch and then I stop.  And I realize, okay, so you’re asking for MORE bitch from her?  ‘Cause you know MORE bitch is going in the opposite direction of the HELP you want from her.  I know better. Instead I stare at the massive bush of beautiful deep purple pansies I have in an iron urn out on my terrace where I’m sitting on hold.  I watch the wind waft through them, I admire the way they spill lushly over the urn, I appreciate, I appreciate, I appreciate – and my whole energy changes because my thoughts have changed.  Back comes You-Know-Who – and it’s like she’s a totally different person.  Not kidding.  Attitude gone, tone of voice changed, and she is as helpful as anyone could possibly be, solving the issue I’d called her about.  Roll your eyes if you want, but life can be as easy as that.  Change your vibration.

Tonight on The Shaun Proulx Show: Joan Rivers, Scott Thompson and Harvey Fierstein!

She Told JT She Was In DUBAI! (Thanks to Susan F. for spotting this and thinking I would get a kick. Did!)

Hey everyone, and happy Friday!  Heading into a Toronto weekend where the weather will be more like mid-April than early-March, there’s lots to love:

Bea, Bombs, And Battiness.

Trend Alert! Watch For Yarn Bombing As Guerrilla Knitting Goes Global On Trees And Poles Near You. Finally, Something To Do With All Those Unfinished Knitting Projects!

OMG what a completely batty show yesterday – off the friggen rails thanks to MAHA, our first contestant in our week-long Shaun Proulx Show’s Next Top Intern competition.  I have to say, given that he had all day to work at the station and complete his challenges in time for the show, he managed to do very well despite arriving just 80 minutes ahead of 3 pm.  One of the six challenges for our contestants includes booking a hot guest and he snagged Divine Brown, which was impressive.  But that bugger is one crackerjack and man did he ever piss Wigmore off with his insinuations that Mark worked for HIM.  Child!  (We’ll see if today’s contestant, Caleb, has what it takes.)

Then of course Rue McClanahan called in to talk about Bea Arthur.  She had also called in when Estelle Getty died last year, so it felt a little morbid, but what can you do.  She graciously shared her thoughts about Arthur, her talent and her friendship, as well as what she’ll remember the legend for (keep reading).

Meanwhile, Farrah Fawcett’s jailed son was allowed out for a deathbed hospital visit with the former Charlie’s Angel this past weekend.  ”You make me so proud,” she wheezed …

It is also being reported that Joan and Melissa Rivers had a meltdown on Celebrity Apprentice.  ”Like, literally, a meltdown,” said Donald Trump.  ”The lighting was so hot their faces looked like candles …”

Snoop Dogg, on trial for assaulting a fan, is insisting he did not strike anyone.  ”My knuckle-duster, on the other hand,” Dogg testified.  ”That is what should be on trial here …”

The ratings are in and Barbara Streisand’s much-promoted, much-anticipated TV concert special bombed Saturday night.  The special attracted a paltry 4.9 million viewers.  In related news, Streisand was spotted headed towards a car with her head shaved, waving an umbrella …

And The Last Word goes to … Rue McClanahan!  ”I will always remember Bea for taking care of me the Thanksgiving my mother had died.  The funeral was in Oklahoma and I came back to California Thanksgiving day.  And I was very despondent, very very grief stricken, I hadn’t really had much sleep for the past six days.  I called Bea, and she said they were just finishing up Thanksgiving dinner and she wanted me to get over there right away.  So I did.  I went to her house and she put me in the guest room and she tucked me into bed, she gave me some Thanksgiving dinner to have.  She mothered me, and took care of me in a time of great need, and I went to sleep.  I had some peace for the first time.”
