Divers/Cite: Couldn't Agree More.

If you do yourself one favour this year, decide on Montreal’s Divers/Cite next summer.  Because if year eighteen of the week-long gay and lesbian arts and culture festival comes even close to 2009’s absolutely amazing old skool brand of celebration, you won’t want to miss a minute.

Of course there’s the traditional closure of Rue Ste. Catherine – a veritable petting zoo of gorgeous locals and tourists – but I think the real treat is the mindboggling programming (which claims to be the longest running free outdoor programming of any gay event in the world), most of which is outdoors and free.

Think genres ranging from photography to modern dance to Latin music to Blues, Jazz, World and Funk to drag, all top-notch, all up for grabs.  I spent a lot of my time at two of Divers/Cite’s most popular events: Mascara (easily one of the best drag extravaganza’s you’ll ever see, year after year) and La Grande Danse.

Big bizzy show today!  Canadian band Midway State are coming on, they recorded a cover of the classic Peter Gabriel / Kate Bush song ‘Don’t Give Up’ with Lady Gaga.  It was leaked last week – this is their first convo about it.

And we’re going to of course be chatting about the fallout from those Dustin Lance Black barebacking pictures (noting of course, no such fuss was made when, say, pics of Colin Farrell fucking raw came out) – do these photos change YOUR opinion of Black?

And speaking of safe sex, did you hear about that judge who slammed Canada’s laws regarding the criminalization of HIV?  Today on the show we’ll also chat to someone who has approached HALCO, the HIV AIDS Legal Clinic of Ontario, for a contract to have for people to sign saying he’s disclosed his HIV status to them before they have sex.

Like I said, big ‘n’ bizzy!
