Today on the show in honour of Matthew Shepard’s mother Judy joining us in less than an hour, we are asking you where it is you see homophobia the most.  In case you don’t know, Matthew was brutally murdered in Laramie, Wyoming just over ten years ago at age 21, a homophobic act that is still as appalling to me today as it was the first time I heard about it. P.S.  Two of my favourite GayGuideToronto.com bloggers – Maha and Andrew Vail – join us on the show today to face off on the topic of aging.  Andrew’s approaching the glorious 50 and Maha is 30-something in person, 19 on Facebook.  It’s all inspired by Andrew’s reaction to Pride Toronto’s recent announcement that this year during Toronto Pride that they will have a 40+ initiative, featuring  a dedicated website, plus activities where older participants can share their stories about what Pride (and life) was like back when. I Want To Meet The Woman Who Would Want To Be Spoken To Via This Shite.

Inadvertently this weekend I got to see things from a woman’s point of view, as it were.  Friday night I attended a motivational / inspirational seminar (geared towards women, but you know, the message is universal at these things).  Saturday night I watched a Meryl Streep three-movie marathon on the W-Network, formerly known as the Women’s Network. Within both experiences, of course, was a lot of marketing.  Ladies are an attractive market, much as the queer community is as well, for anyone with anything to sell.

Happy Monday indeed!

First off, the sweet relief of it all that Victor Newman is NOT leaving Genoa City!  Palpable!  News out this morning that Eric Braeden has signed a new contract – apparently (according to my sources) the entire haggling was merely over having a fluffer on set.

Of course it only gets better as we move to nighttime TV.  Slowly we’re getting over the idea that Ashley Simpson-Wentz has been fired from Melrose Place (she was so good at quirky-dangerous that we forgave the Saturday Night Live lip synching lie!), because in the end, who cares anyway?  Heather Locklear’s back next month!

Over in the land of radio, look who’s coming on mah show this week: Tegan & Sara, d’bi young (both today), GGT blogger David Ivey (only one of the best writers I’ve read in ages) and goddess Molly Johnson on Wednesday!  Aaack!  On the TV version of the show we’ve got a Halloween spooky episode lined up for Thursday night: Elvira, Mistress of The Dark is our special guest.  And then, because it’s never too early for Christmas (yes it is) The Rockettes drop by the studio in little velvet Santa outfits to teach me how to do a high kick.

Life. Is. Good.

Isn’t that interesting?  That quote comes from my studies of the Law of Attraction and the understanding and applying of it was a big, big, big moment of realization last night.

Most of my adventurous life runs smoothly and is joyous.  Life for me is delicious, because the adventure is lived from security and well-being.

Yesterday on the show, we received a good news call.  It was from Tony Jenko who is the president and CEO at Downsview Park, where Elephant Man was scheduled to perform over the coming weekend.  Earlier in the day on Breakfast In Bed with Patrick and Deb, Patrick Marano and Deb Pearce had called and left a detailed protest message, live on-air, on Jenko’s voicemail.  When Jenko called in, it was in response to this message and others like it; he had just moments ago cancelled the act. Holy moly I’m getting so excited about seeing Kylie Friday night. Just how old am I exactly?

Also can’t wait to talk to Leslie Jordan on the show today. He’s best known as ‘Beverley Leslie’, ‘Karen Walker’s arch nemesis on Will & Grace. I’ve also seen his stand-up, he’s hysterical, like the big gay sister I never had.

Speaking of big gay sisters, one might say Madonna is just that to Kylie. Over on my publication GayGuideToronto.com, blogger Andrew Vail is giving away Madonna DVD prize packs – 2 disc sets featuring 47 videos, some never seen before, all remastered. Do give it a whirl, girl!
