On Sunday I had the fun pleasure of judging Woofstock, alongside comics Simon Rakoff and Shelley Marshall. My pal Richard Ryder hosted, the giggle-puss.

Always Happy To Judge!
As I said there, I like dogs better than people. There were some amazing varieties to be seen:

Meet Mango.
I was especially drawn to the daschunds, as my little bastard Jack is a long-haired mini, and to this day I still so miss my girl Sammy, who passed away three Christmases ago in my arms after sixteen years of dog / gay man love.
Here’s a daschund / terrier mix that made my mouth drop:

Say It Ain't SO!
So it came as no shock to me that this lovely lady, matching her outfit with her little lady daschund, who looked like my Sammy, stole my heart and the show and won in the ‘Best Costume’ category:

OMG A Daschund Wins!
Last night, Patrick and I were watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, and it made me think of some photos of the one time I did drag, for an indie film that should never see the light of day. I keep some Polaroids that were taken in my top drawer, as a reminder never ever to do drag again. I was so strongly compelled to pull them out and make Patrick look at them:

Never. Again.
As we flipped through several Polaroids, I discovered to my shock, this picture I didn’t even know was there:

My little girl Sammy. It was so powerful to find this picture and for me the shot so vividly captures her that I found myself in tears in seconds. It was as though she’d just entered the room. Poor Patrick, holding me as I sobbed weird happy/sad sobs.
I love Sammy still, and miss her so.
