HIMBO! – Pride Diary: Tuesday
Jun 30th, 2010 by Shaun Proulx

GGT Blogger Maha Can't Believe Someone Else Wore The Same Cardigan!

Last night I hosted a small get-together for the Shaun Proulx Media team, including bloggers from GayGuideToronto.com, The Shaun Proulx Show peeps, associates, and a few mandatory BFFs.  Just to appreciate, to take a breath, and chillax as the Toronto Pride wind up winds up.  My friend Buck Angel was in town, so he was guest of honour, and we played the premiere episode of my show in which he was featured.

Thanks to Lola’s Commissary for their wonderful space, and for whipping up deliciousness for us the likes of which you can’t find anywhere else.  Thanks also to Flatrock Cellars and Premium Peeler Light Cider for the hangover this morning!

And suddenly there was a magician, screwing with our heads.

P.S.  On a side note, thanks to Shinan Govani for the mention in his scene column in today’s National Post!

Here are some pics from the nite! Read the rest of this entry »

Doggy Style
Jun 15th, 2010 by Shaun Proulx

On Sunday I had the fun pleasure of judging Woofstock, alongside comics Simon Rakoff and Shelley Marshall. My pal Richard Ryder hosted, the giggle-puss.

Always Happy To Judge! ;)

As I said there, I like dogs better than people. There were some amazing varieties to be seen:

Meet Mango.

I was especially drawn to the daschunds, as my little bastard Jack is a long-haired mini, and to this day I still so miss my girl Sammy, who passed away three Christmases ago in my arms after sixteen years of dog / gay man love.

Here’s a daschund / terrier mix that made my mouth drop:

Say It Ain't SO!

So it came as no shock to me that this lovely lady, matching her outfit with her little lady daschund, who looked like my Sammy, stole my heart and the show and won in the ‘Best Costume’ category:

OMG A Daschund Wins!

Last night, Patrick and I were watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, and it made me think of some photos of the one time I did drag, for an indie film that should never see the light of day.  I keep some Polaroids that were taken in my top drawer, as a reminder never ever to do drag again.  I was so strongly compelled to pull them out and make Patrick look at them:

Never. Again.

As we flipped through several Polaroids, I discovered to my shock, this picture I didn’t even know was there:

My little girl Sammy.  It was so powerful to find this picture and for me the shot so vividly captures her that I found myself in tears in seconds.  It was as though she’d just entered the room. Poor Patrick, holding me as I sobbed weird happy/sad sobs.

I love Sammy still, and miss her so.

Feel GOOD Friday!

Springtime In Toronto Is So Glorious! (Photo: HIMBO!)

It would be an understatement to say “What a week!”  Here’s what I’m loving as we head into the weekend :)

  • The Shaun Proulx Show launches brand new episodes on OutTV starting Friday June 4th with (at long last!) a one-hour special featuring my LA chat with Buck Angel.  The episode after that features guests Mark ‘The Prince Of Pot’ Emery days before his U.S. extradition, Betty White, and (scream!) Adam Lambert.  Download the OutTV iPhone app on iTunes, and here’s a peak at my chat with Glambert: Read the rest of this entry »

If there’s one thing people I meet tell me it’s that they love 103.9 PROUD FM – they just wish they could pick it up in more places. “When are you getting a better signal?”

Now, apparently. That is if you help. The Pride of Toronto, 103.9 PROUD FM, has submitted an application to the CRTC for a power increase. If approved, this change will help the station better serve YOU, the PROUD FM listener and the GLBT community in downtown Toronto. There are several ways you can help:

Fill out this form of support. Your comments will then be sent to the CRTC.

OR You can email PROUD FM directly at info@proudfm.com and tell them why the station are important to you.

OR you can stop by the PROUD FM offices at 65 Wellesley St E suite 201 during business hours and sign a petition.

If you don’t, don’t ever complain to me again. Loving you, meaning it ;)
