I have always loved how clever Shaun is – and yes, I am one of those who saw many die and who has had trouble giving up the connection HIV/AIDS. But thank Jeebus, it is 2014 and we have what it takes to get to zero — zero new infections (PrEP, undetectible viral loads and, yes, condoms), zero discrimination or stigmatization, and zero AIDS-related deaths.
And it is time to focus where the focus is most needed in terms of treatment and care. There are still reasons to be active and vigilant at home. But we MUST do more for Africa and others who do not have access.

Rather than an HIV/ AIDS divorce, perhaps what you have actually outlined is the blueprint for a remarriage. While progression to AIDS will hopefully never be in the cellular cards for you or millions well served by HAART, it is the inevitable progression and death for millions more outside of North America and Europe. As you rightly say, we must continue be a beacon and lead through fundraising, advocacy and awareness, always being mindful of those less fortunate.
